Date and Place:
The 2009 Mrs. Georgia Pageant will be held February 20, 21 and 22, 2009 at the Gwinnett Courtyard Marriott and Sunday, February 24, at the Gwinnett Center. Headlining our show will be Tiffany Hudak - Mrs. Georgia 2008. The talented performers, celebrity judges, special guests and a group of the most outstanding married ladies in Georgia will make a very exciting weekend! You must be at least 21 years of age. You must certify to be married and living with your husband. You must be a U.S. citizen and live or work in Georgia. You must be in good health and good moral character. A selection panel chooses the contestants to compete in the state pageant after reviewing the applications. All contestants are not required to win a local pageant in order to participate in the Mrs. Georgia United States Pageant. Judging is based on beauty, poise and personality. Judges focus on mental attributes, however, the overall impression (Clothes, hair, make-up, walk and posture) is very important. A contestant should possess a good attitude, self-confidence, maturity, poise and composure. There are three categories: Personal and private interviews = 50%, Swimsuit = 25%, And Evening Gown = 25%. After all contestants have been judged in these areas of competition, the 5 contestants with the highest totals are presented to the judges. There will be no on stage interviews. Judges then rank the top five. A fourth, third, second, and first runner-up will be named, along with Mrs. Georgia United States 2008. There will be an interview and swimsuit winner named, along with Most Photogenic and Mrs. Congeniality. Personal Interview The judges meet with contestants in a five-minute "one on one" interview, where they evaluate the contestants' knowledge, perception, self-expression, and in general, are able to focus in on each contestant's sense of values. Charm, poise, personality, vocabulary, voice, appearance, good grooming and fashion coordination are readily observed during the interview. Panel Interview The panel of judges meets with each contestant for 2 minutes before the personal interview. Swimsuit Competition Beauty of face and figure, poise, posture and smooth execution of movement are all important. Evening Gown Competition Emphasis is on poise, posture, personality, style, graceful execution and overall appearance. There is no talent involved, no essays to write, no speeches to give. If, after reading this information carefully, you are interested in taking part, please print the answers on the entry form (use extra paper if necessary) and return it with a recent photo and $35.00 processing fee to the office on or before the date requested. Note: the photo is non-returnable and the processing fee is non-refundable. Please make checks payable to: Mrs. Georgia United StatesEntry form, photo and $35.00 processing fee - call for deadline date - (770) 235-5028 You are under no obligation by returning the completed form. You will not be an official contestant until you have been accepted in writing and have completed the requirements. Pageant Clothing and Accessories: You will furnish your own evening gown, one-piece or two-piece swimsuit, a walk-on dress and an interview outfit. The judges will see you for the first time in your interview outfit and first impressions really do count. Your choice should reflect a look appropriate for a job interview. Your favorite suit or dress would be fine. The walk-on dress will be worn for the opening production. A short cocktail dress is required. It can be any color or style. If You Are Selected: Each contestant who has been chosen to compete in the state pageant will be required to provide a sponsor registration fee of $590.00 (this is not due now). The sponsor fee is to defray the cost of production and is a modest amount in relation to the combined prize package from both the state and national pageants. The production of the state pageant includes, but is not limited to, activities during the pageant, live entertainment, winner's trip, prizes and awards, as well as advertising, printing, program books, theatre rental, music, administrative and miscellaneous expenses. The Mrs. Georgia Pageant awards city or county titles to the competing delegates. Each delegate will be representing the area or surrounding area in which she lives or works while competing at the state pageant. We have a beautiful sash made for each state finalist. The cost of each sash is $80 (white satin with red embroidered lettering, finished with red trim), which includes priority mail postage. To purchase your sash (this is mandatory), please send $80 to the Mrs. Georgia Pageant. The sash is for you to keep and use in securing sponsors, making appearances and during the Mrs. Georgia Pageant competition. The sashes will be worn during the activities during the pageant weekend, including the cocktail party, farewell dinner, personal and panel interviews, opening number and introductions on stage. The sashes will not be worn for swimsuit and evening gown competitions. Each contestant selected to compete at the state pageant is responsible for her hotel accommodations. (If she chooses to stay at the hotel) There are no additional fees other than the $590.00 sponsor fee, $80 sash fee and the $35.00 processing fee. You may have as many sponsors as you desire, but only ten (10) will be listed on the distinguished sponsors page in the official program book. In the past, some contestants have found businesses and civic organizations willing to provide all or most of the fees involved. Many contestants sponsor themselves or are backed by their family and friends. You never know who might sponsor you until you ask! Sponsorship has never been a problem to a dedicated contestant, but you have to try. Pageant Policy: You are free to withdraw from the competition at any time, but you will not, for any reason, be entitled to a refund of any fee, either full or in part, that you or your sponsor(s) have paid. There will be no exceptions! This also applies to any disqualified contestant.
