Southern Pageants is pleased to announce that we will host the 2009 Miss Georgia Pageant on February 21 and 22, 2009.

 

PAGEANT DATE AND PLACE:

The 2009 Miss Georgia Pageant will be held February 21 and 22, 2009 at the Gwinnett Courtyard Marriott and the Gwinnett Center.

The talented performers, celebrity judges, special guests and a group of the most outstanding young ladies in georgia will make a very exciting weekend!

TO QUALIFY:

You must between the ages of 20 by July 11, 2009 and cannot turn 28 before July 11, 2009. You must be a u.s. citizen and live, work, or attend school in Georgia. You must be in good health and good moral character.
Each applicant is evaluated by a panel that will choose the contestants to compete at the state pageant. All contestants are accepted for entry in the state pageant on a strictly "at large" basis.

Contestants are not required to win a local pageant in order to participate in the Miss Georgia Pageant.

JUDGING:

Judging is based on beauty, poise, and personality. There are three categories: personal interview swimsuit and evening gown. There is no on stage interview. Each category is one-third of a contestant's score. After all contestants have been judged in these areas of competition, the names of the 5 contestants with the highest totals will be given to the judges to rank. A fourth, third, second, and first runner-up will be named, along with Miss Georgia 2009. An swimsuit and interview award will be presented to the contestants with the highest scores in those categories, along with Congeniality and Most Photogenic awards.

There is no talent involved, no essays to write, no speeches to give.

ENTRY INFORMATION:

If, after reading this information carefully, you are interested in taking part, please print the answers on the entry form (use extra paper if necessary) and return it with a recent photo and $35 processing fee to the pageant office on or before the required date. Note: the photo is non-returnable and the processing fee is non-refundable.

PAGEANT CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES:

You will furnish your own evening gown, one-piece or two-piece swimsuit, a walk-on dress and an interview outfit.

The judges will see you for the first time in your interview outfit. First impressions really do count. Your choice should reflect a look appropriate for a job interview. Your favorite suit or dress would be fine.

A short dressy dress is required. A fun prom dress would be great! The evening gown should compliment your face and figure. The color and style are up to you.


Remember your clothing is a reflection of your personality. Have fun, but make it you!

IF YOU ARE SELECTED:

Each contestant that has been chosen to compete in the state pageant will be required to provide a sponsor registration fee of $490.00 (this is not due now). The sponsor fee is to defray the cost of production and is modest amount in relation to the combined prize package from both the state and national pageants. The production of the state pageant includes, but is not limited to, activities during the pageant, saturday night dinner, group salsa and line dance lesson, entertainment, winner's trip, prizes and awards, as well as advertising, printing, program books, theatre rental, production labor, music, administrative and miscellaneous expenses. Each contestant selected to compete at the state pageant is responsible for her hotel accommodations, should she choose to stay at the hotel during the weekend. It is recommended that the contestant room with a parent or guardian.

The Miss Georgia Pageant awards city or county titles to the competing delegates. Each delegate will be representing the area or surrounding area in which she lives or works while competing at the state pageant.

We have a beautiful sash made for each state finalist. The cost of each sash is $80 (white satin with royal blue embroidered lettering, finished with red trim), which includes priority mail postage. To purchase your sash (this is mandatory), please send $80 to the Miss Georgia Pageant. The sash is for you to keep and use in securing sponsors, making appearances and during the Miss Georgia Pageant competition. The sashes will be worn during the activities during the pageant weekend, including the farewell dinner, personal and interviews, opening number and introductions on stage. The sashes will not be worn for evening gown competition.

There are no additional fees other than the $490.00 sponsor fee, $80 sash fee and the $35.00 processing fee.

SPONSORS:

You may have as many sponsors as you desire, however, only ten (10) will be listed on the distinguished sponsors and patrons page in the official program book.
In the past, some contestants have found businesses and civic organizations willing to provide all or most of the fees involved. Many contestants sponsor themselves or are backed by their family and friends. You never know who might sponsor you until you ask! Sponsorship has never been a problem to a dedicated contestant, but you have to try.

PAGEANT POLICY:

You are free to withdraw from the competition at any time, but you will not, for any reason, be entitled to a refund of any fee, either full or in part, that you or your sponsor(s) have paid. There will be no exceptions! This also applies to any disqualified contestant.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:

Roy Jordan was one of Atlanta's top fashion designers whose designs have been worn by contestants in the Miss USA, Miss America and Miss World Pageants. He has designed for many celebrities, including actress Halle Berry. His creations have appeared in Ebony and People magazines. He produced the Miss Cobb County Pageant, a Miss America Preliminary to Miss Georgia. He is the executive director of the Miss Georgia Pageant, a position he has held for the past 21 years! He is the state director for the Mrs. Georgia Pageant (16 years) and Mrs. South Carolina Pageant (4 years) for the nationally televised Mrs. United States Pageant. His state winners have consistently been in the top 10 or top 5 at their national pageants. Roy has taught dance for the past 23 years.
